Map Your Digital Ecosystem

Every campaign lives somewhere: on platforms you own, attention you pay for, and spaces you borrow from someone else. This map catalogues where organizations show up, what they actually control, and what runs underneath, most of which supporters never see. This is not an exhaustive list of every tool out there, and it will change and grow as quickly as technology does.

The three pillars

Who sets the rules?

The map

From front stage to invisible

Each tool sits in its main pillar and on a visibility spectrum, from public content people attribute to you down to the code that runs beneath it. Bars show dependency risk: how exposed you are to that platform's rules, prices and policy changes. Select any tool for the full breakdown.

The extracted edge

Spaces you never chose

At the far edge of the borrowed pillar are systems with no opt-out at all. Your content, your supporters' conversations and your public presence are used on someone else's terms, whether or not you signed up.

    Every tool, line by line

What it does, who owns it, what you actually keep and how much control you have. The filters above apply here too.

Make a copy of the spreadsheet, add or remove the platforms your organization uses, and adjust the scores. Every score is a starting point for a conversation, not a verdict.
